PURPOSE OF THE JOB (What are the end results or objectives of this position? Why does the job exist?) The security officer position exists to maintain order and security on the campus of SEBTS.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (What duties are required for the position to exist?) Unlock and secure buildings on a daily basis.
Monitor campus parking lots and issue citations when needed.
Assist other agencies like the police and fire departments when an emergency situation arises on campus.
Conduct security rounds of the campus and housing areas.
During rounds, monitor the campus and housing areas for security risks or unsafe conditions that need addressing to include such items as lights that are not working.
Upon noting a need, the officer is required to submit a work order to the appropriate department.
Assist with parking and security needs during special campus events.
Assist with additional duties as requested by other departments and as approved by the Director of Campus Security (see Other Duties).
Provide escorts to students (especially females) as they are needed.
OTHER DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES (Responsibilities/important duties performed occasionally or in addition to the essential duties of the position.
) Assist incoming students in obtaining their housing keys if they arrive after housing officer hours.
Security is often called upon to assist motorists, as well, with such things as flat tires or dead batteries.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (Provide the number and type of employees supervised, level of authority to hire and fire or to make recommendations.
) The basic security officer position is not a supervisory position, and as such, there is no authority at this level to hire or fire anyone though recommendations may be made to the Director of Campus Security.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS (Indicate which are required, preferred, or desirable.
Include licenses and certificates.
) A valid state driver's license is required with a clean driving history and a clean background check.
All other training for this position is done on the job.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY (Budgeting responsibilities, approval privileges on purchase orders and check requests, reporting and auditing functions.
) All these functions must go through the Director of Campus Security.
EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT (Within and outside the Seminary) This position requires contact with the faculty, staff, and students of SEBTS as well as frequent contact with other agencies and contractors responding to calls for service at SEBTS or performing service calls on SEBTS' campus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Walking, lifting, equipment, operation, etc.
) This position requires a lot of walking including climbing stairs.
Lifting is limited to cones and other security equipment as needed.
Safe operation of the security vehicle is a must as well as operation of communications equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT (i.
e.
, necessary travel, unusual work hours, unusual environmental conditions, etc.
) The security of SEBTS is a 24 hour a day, seven day a week responsibility.
As such, security officers are required to work weekends and holidays, as needed.
While weather may shut down other departments, security is required to have someone available at all times, so even during times of inclement weather, security is required to be present.
Therefore, no matter what time of day it is or what the weather is, security will have someone available to answer calls for service.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
